The Shimano Ultegra groupset had been completely redesigned for 2010 and now has many similarities to the DURA-ACE 7900 group.
The ULTEGRA 6700 has an aerodynamic inspired design, characterized by a two-color silver decoration. Weight has been reduced by 15 grammes and includes a wide range of components for every kind of rider.
Chainsets: double, triple and compact
The new chainset is made with the HOLLOWGLIDE design with an external crown to further increase rigidity. It will be available in the following options: double (FC-6700: 53-39T, 52-39D), triple (FC-6703: 52-39-30D) and compact (FC-6750: 50-34D). The cranks are available in lengths of 165; 170; 172.5 e 175 mm. Weight: 785g (53-39D, 170mm).
Dual Control levers
The Ultegra Dual Control ST-6700 levers are made from composite carbon fibre, with cables passing under the bar tape. The lever extension can be adjusted for even the smallest hands and varied position, while bushes are close to the rider for better control. Weight: 445g the pair.
Gears
There are two front gears: the shorter SS and the medium caged GS. The SS has a gear difference of 16 and a total capacity of 33, meaning it is compatible with the Shimano 50-34 rings and a maximum 28 cog. The GS needs a triple but has extra rigidity and a reduced weight of 190g. Shimano have the FD-6700 and the FD-6703 rear gears. They both have a new chain guide design and double fixing points to increase rigidity. Weight: 89g.
