In just two seasons as a professional, Francesco Ginanni has become one of the stars of Italian cycling thanks to winning several important one-day races. He won the Tre Valli Varesine race last summer, and this year dominated the Trofeo Laigueglia and the GP Carnaghese. Ginanni was at the EICMA Milan show on Monday and visited the stand of bike sponsor Guerciotti. He was already looking ahead to the 2010 season. “I think it’s been a good year for me and I also hope to do well in the end of season races, perhaps even the Tour of Lombardy,” he said.
Ginanni will stay with the Diquigiovanni team managed by Gianni Savio in 2010 and will be joint team leader with Michele Scarponi. All the team will ride Guerciotti bikes. “I’ve got on perfectly with the team and with our bike sponsor Guerciotti. They’re always very supportive and make me feel at home,” Ginanni said.
The full range of Guerciotti bikes for 2010 is on display at their stand in Hall 9. There is also a Team Replica model of the bike used by Ginanni and the Diquigiovanni team. It is a monocoque carbon fibre frame fitted with a RS carbon fork. It has been designed to guarantee rigidity, lightweight and great handling. Guerciotti has produced special version of the bike for Ginanni, Scarponi and Fabiana Luperini. Each has a custom paint job that makes the bikes unique.
“I know that everybody expects a lot from me but I’m not scared of pressure or responsibility. I can’t wait to prove what I can do,” Ginanni said. “My big goal is Milan-San Remo, I love it and really hope to win it one day.”
