On Friday September 18, at 14.30, Italian minister
Stefania Prestigiacomo will officially open the “Salone del Ciclo di Milano” in the LEM 3 Area (Ponte dei Mari) of Rho-Pero's fair, together with the Lombardy’s regional president,
Roberto Formigoni. The show will be open until Monday September 21.
The fact that representative for the Italian government at the opening ceremony will be its environment minister is everything but casual. The use of bicycles has had an incredible boost in 2009, particularly thanks to bike sharing’s diffusion and, above all, to the incentives allotted by Minister Prestigiacomo, that led to an outstanding increase in the bike market in April and May. The Minister is coming to Milan to confirm the intention to keep working on this path, anticipating new initiatives and – probably – announcing a new incentive campaign.
From the institutional point of view, the success of the event is organizing for the 67th consecutive time is beyond doubt. On the other hand, everybody hopes the show can also collect attention by the operators, the cycling fans and by a generality of people, as bicycle is finally becoming a massive means of transport in Italy too.
The EICMA bike show returns to September, welcoming back several exhibitor that did not appreciate the new November date. More than 250 prestigious brands will figure at the show, meaning that EICMA 2009 will be the perfect chance to find out all the novelties the cycling industry prepared for 2010 season.
Looking at the anticipations, there will be a lot to see for any category of bikers: from the extreme performers, eager to ride the latest road or MTB model, to the city-bikers, who will find some authentic gems for their everyday movements.
