Cycling is an individual sport but there is nothing like riding with hundreds of other cyclists and sharing the emotions of two wheels. Every one of the 450 riders who took part in the 12th PedalatAzzurra ride on Sunday would agree with that and for the first time in several years the ride and the EICMA show were also back together like old cycling friends. It resulted in the perfect combination of the pleasures of cycling and the pleasures of seeing the latest bike technology on show.
Under a warm sun, the huge peloton of riders set off from the south entrance of the Rho Exhibition centre. In the saddle were well known former racers such as 1960 World champion Marino Vigna and 1947 pink jersey wearer Renzo Zanuzzi. Of course, AICC President Marino Bartoletti was also there. Everyone completed the 65km ride and made it back to the Milan show to the applause of the crowd.
Prizes were awarded to the club with the most riders but the biggest prize of all went to everyone who took part: a shared moment of great sport and physical activity that further confirmed the special spirit in cycling.
